We Can Do It!

Wife, mother, sister, friend...as women we wear so many hats. It's not that we aren't ambitious. Who in their right minds could say that with all that must be done everyday? We would really just love to be able to care for our families, be a great friend, have lots of fun and make a little money along the way. OH! And it's pretty important to us that we not have to take time away from our families thank you very much.

Is there a job out there that would respect those desires of our hearts? Probably not. But there is an opportunity straight from the hearts of your sisters here at Down South. Down South is set to officially launch it's home party divison in the Summer of 2008.

What's the deal? It's pretty simple really. We set you up with the tools to help you succeed at making extra income without all of the corporate hassle. In fact, if you are looking for a corporate opportunity, this just isn't the one for you. This program was designed for wives and mothers in America that aren't defined by what they do. They would just like to accessorize life with a little excitment and ALOT of opportunity.
Not the party type? You aren't locked into that format. Down South also offers consultants the opportunity to receive generous commissions simply by booking fundraising events. Now what could be easier than that? It's all here for you.

We are limiting the number of consultants initally so contact us soon. Documents are available on line in our Yahoo Community Board.

Spring Fundraisers

Believe it or not, that warm spring weather is just around the corner. Just shake the cold right off of your boots, and run bare footed into a successful ( and mightily fun) fundraiser!
Down South Candle Company's soy candle fundraisers offer supporters the opportunity to purchase the south's newest hot ticket candle item, and for a great cause..YOURS! Why offer Down South soy candle's? Because they smell amazing!
Most people don't know this, but eighty-five percent of American households burn scented candles in their homes already. Couple that statistic with a cause that people care about and you've got the perfect ingredients for a record setting fundraising event.
What scents for spring? How bout "Freshly Mowed Grass" or "Aloha Friday"? Those fragrances always help to get people into the "spring" of things. Not a floral person? Chocoholic is the perfect rendition of a batch of brownies just pulled from the oven. What's not to love?
At 40% profit, it won't take long at all to reach your organizations goals. Book a repeat event, and your portion jumps to 50%. Choose your scents and containers, or ask our professional fundraising staff to take care of all those little details. Either way, a Down South soy candle fundraiser will ensure that you meet your fundraising goals AND have fun along the way!

Building Your Brand

Down South Candle Company began offering private labeling for wholesale accounts in 2007. I've had many people ask about the benefits of a private label line of soy candles versus carrying an established brand of soy candles that customers better recognize. It's simple really~One of the biggest challenges for successful retailers is that it is often very difficult to source quality products that aren't "over sold" in stores nation wide. Brand recognition is vital of course, but never underestimate the power of creativity. Consumers love to find that special item that can't be purchased in every store in America.

The private label option gives retailers that much needed edge in an ever competitive market. With the private label option, retailers are no longer hindered by high opening orders or limited fragrance selection. Down South's program has a low set up fee of $50.00, and opens with a mere $300.00. We work very hard to design a line that reflects and respects your retail identity. With over one hundred fragrances to choose from, you can always find what you're looking for with Down South.

Confessions of a Candle Junkie

I had never really thought about the ingredients in the innumerable candles that have made their way into my home over the years. I just knew that I absolutely loved the smell, and that they relaxed me in a way that rivaled even a vintage Cabernet. My blissfully ignorant state of mind continued until the day that I began making those candles.
My first candles were paraffin, and they smelled absolutely incredible! But why the ugly black soot around the rim? If that soot was so visible to the naked eye, what was I breathing in? As a nurse I am always conscious of environmental components that can have a damaging effect on our health. I began to research and found that paraffin is derived from crude oil, and emits eleven toxins currently documented by The American Lung Association. Well that explained it!

I began working on a new formulation that consisted of a natural wax that comes from renewable sources. It burns cleaner, and is biodegradable unlike its paraffin counterparts, making it somewhat safe for disposal in landfills. One of the most important aspect of natural wax? It stimulates our economy, because it’s produced right here in the United States of America.
Choosing to purchase candles made from a natural wax is one way that we can choose a healthier life style without giving up the scents that we love so much.
